The church is a communion of the living and the dead. With this in mind, a wake committee was formed at Mater Christi. As a community we are saddened at the death of one of our parishioners, but together with the family we all have the hope of the Glorious Resurrection.

“Death is a Rite of Passage. Not only is it for the deceased but for the living… the shape of life, the shape of the church, is changed by the death of any member.” (Liturgy 80)

A group of parishioners meet with the family of the deceased to offer the prayers of the Mater Christi people as well as offering comfort and help at this particular time. If you are interested in becoming part of this special ministry to the grieving, contact the rectory Office at 708-442-5611 and leave a message.
