R.C.I.A. - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults - is a process for those adults interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, in order to receive the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The R.C.I.A. process consists of a series of weekly informal meetings with individuals who are already Catholic, to explore the meaning of God, Jesus, organized religion, and the Catholic Church in their lives.

This process is for all men and women who are not Baptized, or Baptized in another Christian Church, and who may be interested in joining the Catholic Church. We also invite those Baptized Catholics who need more instruction in order to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Those who were never Baptized are referred to as Catechumens, while those previously Baptized are called Candidates.

When someone asked Jesus, “Where do you live?” He responded, “Come and See!” - Jesus said, “Come and See” to Andrew, Peter, and the saints of old - and to you! This invitation takes many forms today, and maybe this one is directed at you. Each year many people decide to become Catholic. Some join because their spouses or fiancés are Catholic; others love the rich traditions and rites of our Church, still others have been inspired by the lives of their friends or co-workers who are examples of living out the teachings of Jesus Christ. The way that people come into the Catholic Church is through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

The 2017-2018 R.C.I.A. process will begin in the fall on Tuesday beginning October 2017 at 7 pm. You are invited to “Come and See” to know more about the Catholic faith before making a commitment. For more information, please contact the Rectory Office at 708-442-5611.

Please feel free to contact the rectory for any question you may have at 708-442-5611 and 708-442-5612
