HAPPY 4TH OF JULY - It was a beautiful day for a parade! - Thank you to the St. Paul VI Parish volunteers who represented our new parish (communities of Mater Christi, St. Hugh, and St. Mary) at the North Riverside 4th of July Parade on Saturday Morning, July 3 at the Big Ball Park in Riverside.

UNIFICATION TEAM OF ST. PAUL VI PARISH

YEAR 2021

With the echoes of hymns and blessings still playing in our minds and hearts, it is time to offer thanks for our Unification Day celebrations. First, we thank God for uniting us in order that we may more effectively proclaim the Good News. We are grateful to our shepherds who led us through the RMC process and to Unification Day: Bishop Manz, Fr. Tom, Fr. Matt, and Fr. Robert, for their encouragement and dedication to the Lord and all of us.

The staff members of all three parishes willingly took on additional tasks to ensure our celebrations would be prayerful and would sow seeds of promise for our future together. Thank you!

George Bernard Shaw wrote, “I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.” We can imagine every person on the Unification Team, some 50 strong, repeating those words - and acting on them! It took many hours, several meetings, dozens of drafts, hundreds of phone calls, emails and texts, days of baking and innumerable conversations to bring our June 27th events to fruition. Their generous, and at times exhausting, efforts served all who participated in our celebrations. Beyond the Team, there were more volunteers who helped by providing refreshments and serving, leading tours, directing parking, assisting with endless proofreading, and contributing financially.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all who gave of their time, their talents and their treasure to make our historic uniting a welcoming, beautiful, and memorable day. St. Paul VI Parish is richly blessed with people like these, so willing to give of themselves for others and for the common good of all. Perhaps the best way to say thanks is to follow their example of service!

Pope Francis said, “We can only build the future by standing together, including everyone.” May we all follow the example of the Unification Team and stand together, pray together and serve together!

UNIFICATION CELEBRATIONS AS ST. PAUL VI PARISH

JUNE 27, 2021

On June 27, 2021, we marked the unification of the parishes of St. Hugh, Mater Christi, and St. Mary as St. Paul VI Parish. The final Mass at St. Hugh parish on the morning celebrated by Bishop Manz began the activities of Unification Day.

After the final Mass at St. Hugh, we celebrated the Dedication of the St. Hugh Faith Formation Center at the Mater Christi campus. Bishop Manz blessed the statue and portrait of St. Hugh that will be displayed in the formation center. The St. Hugh Faith Formation Center will be the place of all faith formation at St. Paul VI Parish, including sacramental preparation, SPRED, and Youth Ministry.

The final destination on the journey of the Unification Celebration of St. Paul VI Parish was at the St. Mary campus for the Dedication of the Bishop Timothy J. Lyne Pastoral Center. The Lyne Pastoral Center will serve as the administrative center and parish office of St. Paul VI Parish.
